Why I founded tUTOR BOOST
While teaching in schools across South London, I saw first-hand the increasing complexity of the classroom and the growing expectations placed on schools and teachers.
Teachers were working hard every day to deliver high-quality learning for every child, while navigating:
evolving curriculum demands
changing funding structures
and increasingly diverse levels of need within classrooms
At the same time, I could see that it wasn’t always possible to provide every child with the level of targeted support or stretch they deserved within school time alone.
Some children needed more focused support to secure key foundations. Others needed greater challenge to fully extend their learning.
What became clear to me was that schools were doing everything they could and that additional, structured support could make a meaningful difference.
In parallel, I also saw a growing number of families turning to private tuition to support their child’s learning. As this demand increased, it became more difficult for parents to know which providers were truly credible, consistent, and focused on long-term progress.
Too often, tuition felt unclear in structure, inconsistent in quality, or disconnected from what children were learning in school.
This left me responding to a constant question…Can you tutor my child privately?
That question stayed with me.
I realised there was a need for tuition that parents could trust, that schools could confidently recommend, and that genuinely complemented what children were learning in the classroom. That is why I founded Tutor Boost.
A reliable, joined-up approach that:
provides targeted intervention where it is most effective
supports children in strengthening core skills and confidence
and ensures learning is consistent, structured and aligned between school and home
Our tutors
All Tutor Boost tutors are carefully selected for their academic background and experience working with children. Each tutor is DBS checked and completes initial training, with ongoing development and support. We also look for tutors who are passionate about teaching, enjoy helping children build confidence, and are skilled at engaging and encouraging learners
